Quick shop update

Some of you have emailed asking when I would be putting the polymer bracelet that I made a few weeks back in my shop and I am happy to report that three of them are sitting pretty in the shop this morning, ready to be snatched up. I’m not sure if I will reproduce anymore of this one, so if you really want one (and weren’t just trying to stroke my ego, although I really do appreciate it!!), hop on over and grab one. We’re going on vacation next week, so if you buy one (or anything else) before Tuesday, it will get in the mail before we leave. If you purchase after Tuesday, you’ll have to wait until the following week before I can get it to you. Thanks so much for support and have a great weekend!

Easter Aftermath

March 25, 2008

Holiday weekends are always so much fun, but the older your kids get (and the more you’re reproducing), the more exhausting they are! But let’s not fixate on the exhausting part - on to some pictures!

Connereggs3.jpg

Saturday we colored eggs with Conner which, I don’t know why I was surprised, but he made a mess. After explaining twenty times that you gently place the egg in the colored water, not hold it up high and let it cannonball in, he still wasn’t getting it but look at that face - having so much fun!

I really can’t wait until he’s a little older and we can dive into some seriously fun art projects together.

Every Easter we gather at my parents house for lunch and a good ol’ Easter egg hunt. It’s still a concept that is lost on him right now, but with a little direction he found all his eggs (and a few for that were meant for the big kids, too - hey, if you lose out to a two-year old I don’t feel bad for you).

And the fun part - finding out what’s inside the eggs.

I said I would post a hair pic, and as you can see it’s really anticlimactic. Just a trim, she did cut longer bangs which I hate, but I always think it’ll be different this time and it never is and two days later I’m styling and clipping them to the side. I had a before picture, which got lost when my hard-drive went berserk a few weeks ago, so here’s a pic of it at Christmas (which nothing had changed from then anyways):

And after:

Hello sunshine! It’s not that much of a difference but having had it darker for four years it was quite an adjustment. I wanted to go really blonde, but thought I needed to ease into the water, not dive in head-first esp. since pregnancy sends my indecisiveness to the tenth degree. And then here’s a 25-week belly shot just for funsies. Hope you all had a fabulous holiday!

Spring-y-ness

March 21, 2008

Soooooo I shouldn’t have said anything about being totally unpacked by this weekend because that is clearly not going to happen. Why? Well, when you haven’t done any unpacking all week, that might be the problem. Keep hope alive for next week, folks!

beads1.jpg

It’s Springtime! Is anyone else excited? I don’t normally like spring - well, I should say I don’t dislike it, I just much prefer fall and winter over spring and summer (esp. when you live in an area where spring exist for a mere week, and then fluctuates between winter and summer for the next few months). But being in a new place and putting down new roots is just inspiring me so much. Last week Joy came over with her polymer clay arsenal and we spent a few hours knuckle-deep in clay. I have been wanting to make beads, just something simple as I can get overwhelmed very quickly with a new craft, so that’s what I did.

beads2.jpg

Nothing too fancy, but once I put some glaze on them and strung them I made a bracelet that I *heart* so much - and I don’t even like bracelets! And it’s so very Easter-y.

But this one I shall keep and maybe even make a few more to put in the shop. Polymer makes your hands stink, your nails stain, and your wrists ache for a few days, but it is still super fun to play with.

I told you I would post a pic of the living room - maybe someone can put my fears about the corner with the bookshelf to rest?

livingroom2.jpg

Is it me? Does that area not jive well? Before you suggest I do away with the bookcase let me say that I need a bookcase. Tim and I are *those people* who collect books and love having them handy, so just doing away with it is not an option since there is no other shelving solution. Anything else I could do to make that wall pop more? It’s totally driving me nut-burgers.

I leave you with this picture of my shaggy-haired boy. And speaking of hair, no pics of mine yet but with the holiday weekend I’m sure I’ll get some shots of it (and no it’s nothing dramatic, no chopping off a ton - it’ll be anticlimactic I’m sure). Have a great Easter everyone!

The first of many photo’s

March 17, 2008

Is it wrong that now our house feels like home mainly because my computer is up and running again? So sad, I know. Ah well. Nothing exciting to report around here seeing as I’m still unpacking, but my goal is to be finished by the end of this week. Can it be done? I shall put my strength and stamina to the test!

So what have I been doing since clearly unpacking hasn’t been the only thing I’m using my time and energy on? What else but crafting. My space is not quite finished but that hasn’t stopped me since making things has helped me cope with all the stresses of moving. I’ve been whipping up some dishcloths to match the new kitchen, and I think they turned out swimmingly.

My love affair with red and aqua continue. Just take a gander at my kitchen. The before:

And now the after:

I just can’t help myself. I tried not to extend it into the living room too much but I feel I may lose that battle over time. The living room is coming along…I will be posting pictures soon, esp. since that one corner is still bugging me.

I haven’t been making things only for myself. Tim says that I don’t make things for him, but that wasn’t the case when I crafted him a clay-fellow to keep him company while he works.

ninja1.jpg

Ugh, sometimes he can be so rude. Who dat Ninja?

ninja2.jpg

Ah, there he is. He’s a feisty little guy, that Samurai. He needs some numb chucks or a sword or something. Now he shall watch over Tim as he works to ensure he’s staying on task (right, honey?). Clearly, I have too much time on my hands. I shall remedy that right now as I throw another load of laundry in the wash - I am no longer afraid of my front-loader and we’re getting along so well. Much more to share (like this awful indigestion Max is inflicting on me, my new hair ‘do complete with highlights, and more house pics) but that’s all you get for now - I love to leave you wanting more.

Well hello, hello!

March 11, 2008

Hello all! Oh how I’ve missed you. Can we hug? I feel like it’s been ages, but time has seemed to both speed up and stand still at the same time and blogging got lost in the mix. It’s so weird how something you feel like isn’t that important to you really is when you can’t (or don’t even have the option to) do it as often.

Things here are resuming some normalcy and that feels goooooood. It took me a little longer than I thought to hit my stride as far as settling was concerned, but I’m about 70% done with the unpacking and that feels great. I got to tackle my craft space today, which at first I wasn’t looking forward to, but now I’m so excited about it and I can’t wait to show pictures, and more, actually use it!

Conner has adjusted so well and loves the new floor plan. I think he’s already worn a path around the kitchen island and does his own Indy 500 every morning after breakfast. He was the first to take to the house, but Tim and I fell in line shortly after and now it’s starting to feel like home to all of us, and that feels amazing. I love our new house but I didn’t realize how attached to our old house I was and that in between place, emotionally, was really difficult to get over. The morning we moved, as everyone was moving our life out, I kept tearing up as I was seeing the house, bare bones the way we first saw it and fell in love with it four years ago. Remembering the first moment we walked in and just knew this was it. Tim wanted to make an offer before seeing the rest of the house - we were smitten. It was the first big thing we did together and that was huge for us, esp. at the ripe age of twenty-two with barely two dimes to rub together. The shelves that Tim hung (which was a hysterical adventure, as easy as it sounds it was not), where Conner took his first steps, the night of our house blessing that was a catalyst for true spiritual change in my life - it all came rushing back to me and I finally had to step outside and get a grip or I was going to be an emotional mess. As cheesy as it sounds, that structure was just a house when we bought it, but we made it a home and I didn’t realize just how much it meant to me. It was bitter-sweet. I’m so thankful for that house and all the experiences that came with it, just as I know I will be of this house.

Okay, that’s all I can muster up tonight. My beloved computer should be nestled in it’s new place in the next few days and I can upload some pictures of what I’ve been up to lately and begin my blog-reading again. Take care, and Conner says hello.

A real fast “hi!”

March 7, 2008

Well we are settling in here at the new place, but not as smoothly as I had hoped. Anyone who has done this more than once, pregnant, is out of their mind! But the boxes are becoming fewer and fewer by the day and my hope is by next weekend there will be no remnant of packaging tape, bubble wrap, or anything else that would let other’s know we just moved in.

I would love to post pics, but for two reasons I can not: one, I have not taken any but that’s because of reason number two, my computer is on the fritz again and I loathe editing pictures on Tim’s computer. But just wanted to post an update and can’t wait to catch up with you all. I do need to post a picture of one of the living room corners, because design-wise, it’s just not jiving and I can not put my finger on why not. So stay tuned!
